Hi, I’m Nathan.
Most of the photos I keep come from paying attention. A place, a face, a bit of good light. I’m Nathan Hurst, a photographer in Perth, Western Australia. My brand and commercial work lives at nathanhurst.co; this site is for the rest of it. Travel, weddings, families, and the moments in between.
Travel is where it started.
I took a camera on a holiday when I was 24 and loved capturing people and moments. It grew from there. A plane ticket and a place I’ve never been is still a feeling like no other.
Some shoots are simple. Me, a camera, and enough time to work out what’s worth photographing. Others are a whole wedding day, or a brief that needs a plan, a team and a clear idea before anyone picks up a camera. The approach doesn’t change. Stay out of the way, read the room, be ready for the moment just before it happens.
Whether it’s a couple, a family, a trip or a client, the aim is the same. Honest photos, warm and a little imperfect, that feel like the people and the place they came from.
